La société américaine existait alors depuis trois ans et n’était encore qu’une librairie en ligne. A l’époque, Andy Jassy est embauché pour un poste de directeur de marketing du site. L’entrepreneur possède deux maisons avec son épouse, créatrice de mode chez Eddie Bauer, avec qui il a eu deux enfants. Autant d’éléments qui témoignent d’une ascension exceptionnelle pour celui qui a rencontré Jeff Bezos… en le frappant accidentellement à la tête avec une pagaie lors d’une compétition de « ballon-balai » organisée par Amazon.
