La Société nationale des télécommunications du Sénégal (SONATEL) va procéder, le 16 juillet 2021 au paiement des intérêts semestriels de son emprunt obligataire dénommé « Sonatel 6,50% 2020-2027 » pour un montant de 3,250 milliards de FCFA (4,875 millions d’euros), ont annoncé les dirigeants de cette société de téléphonie basée à Dakar.
Dans l’optique de financer son plan d’investissement 2020 lié à ses opérations au Sénégal (son principal marché), la Sonatel avait lancé sur le marché financier de l’Union monétaire ouest africaine (UMOA) un emprunt obligataire par appel public à l’épargne pour un montant de 100 milliards de FCFA. Un taux d’intérêt de 6,50%, payable semestriellement à partir de la date de jouissance des titres (acquise depuis le 16 juillet 2020), avait été proposé aux nombreux souscripteurs.
Les responsables de la société s’étaient engagés à rembourser le capital semestriellement, après deux années de différé, soit quatre semestres, à raison du paiement du dixième du capital sur les 5 ans.
L’opération, qui s’était déroulée du 7 au 15 juillet 2020, a été un franc succès avec la souscription de 10 millions d’obligations au prix de 10.000 FCFA l’une.
Fondé le 23 juillet 1985, le Groupe Sonatel dont le siège social se situe à Dakar au Sénégal, est actuellement présent dans cinq pays en Afrique de l’Ouest (Sénégal, Mali, Guinée, Sierra Leone et Guinée-Bissau).
La Société est cotée à la bourse régionale des valeurs mobilières (BRVM) depuis 1998. Elle y est la principale capitalisation boursière.
Dotée d’un capital de 50 milliards de FCFA, la Sonatel a comme principaux actionnaires le Groupe Orange (42%), l’Etat du Sénégal (27%), les salariés (7%) et le reste (24%) revenant à divers porteurs à travers la BRVM.
