Dans son récent rapport, Amnesty International dénonce la complicité des Européens qui continuent honteusement d’aider les gardes-côtes libyens à capturer des personnes en mer et à les renvoyer de force dans l’enfer de la détention en Libye.
Dans son rapport, Amnesty International affirme que fin 2020, la Direction libyenne de lutte contre les migrations illégales (DCIM, dépendant du ministère de l’Intérieur) a « légitimé » ces violations des droits humains en prenant le contrôle de deux centres de détention gérés par des milices, où des centaines de réfugiés et de migrants ont fait l’objet de disparitions forcées ces dernières années.
Les agences de l’ONU et les ONG opérant en Méditerranée dénoncent régulièrement les politiques européennes de retour forcé de migrants vers la Libye, où ils sont enfermés dans des centres de détention dans des conditions très dures.
Les centres de détention sont devenus des prisons à ciel ouvert ou les violations des droits à l’homme sont monnaie courante. L’ONG a recensé plusieurs cas de femmes violées par des gardiens en échange de nourriture ou de leur liberté. Aux violences sexuelles s’ajoutent des actes de torture, du travail forcé et d’autres formes d’exploitation. Indignée par le silence coupable des Européens, l’ONG a appelé les autorités libyennes à fermer immédiatement ces centres de détention.
La Libye est devenue une voie privilégiée pour des dizaines de milliers de migrants qui tentent de rejoindre l’Europe par la mer au risque de leur vie. Une aventure qui se termine dans la majorité des cas dans le désespoir total.
