Les scientifiques ont travaillé sur les émissions des quatre principaux gaz à effet de serre (GES) qui ont compté pour 92 % des émissions entre 1970 et 2018 : le dioxyde de carbone (CO2), le méthane (CH4), l’oxyde nitreux (N2O) et le noir de carbone. Ils ont comparé les sources de ces émissions aux projections de température sur l’ensemble de la planète. Avec premier constat général : si 90 % des émissions sont générées sur 8 % de la surface de la planète, c’est plus de la moitié des terres qui connaîtront un réchauffement extrême d’ici la fin de ce siècle.
