C’est en pleine nuit qu’Israël a mené des attaques aériennes sur la bande de Gaza. Les frappes, qui n’ont fait aucune victime, ont pris pour cible une zone non habitée dans le nord de l’enclave et un site d’entraînement du mouvement islamiste Hamas, au pouvoir dans la bande de Gaza, à Khan Younes (sud).
Israël avait auparavant annoncé réduire de moitié la zone de pêche autorisée au large de la bande de Gaza. « La décision a été prise en raison des lancers de ballons incendiaires de la bande de Gaza vers Israël, qui constituent une violation de la souveraineté israélienne« , selon le communiqué de la branche militaire du Bureau de coordination des activités du gouvernement israélien dans les Territoires palestiniens, appelé Cogat. Il a prévenu que le « Hamas, responsable des activités dans la bande de Gaza et de toutes les actions menées depuis la bande de Gaza vers l’Etat d’Israël, devait subir les conséquences des violences commises contre les citoyens de l’Etat d’Israël ».
Lancers de ballons incendiaires
Plus tôt dimanche, des feux de brousse ont été éteints « à trois endroits dans un petit secteur dans la région d’Eshkol », avait indiqué un communiqué des pompiers israéliens précisant qu' »un expert avait conclu que les feux avaient été provoqués par des ballons incendiaires ».
Ces ballons visent des terres agricoles autour de l’enclave palestinienne paupérisée où vivent entassés quelque deux millions d’habitants sous blocus israélien depuis 15 ans.
Un cessez-le-feu fragile
Plusieurs incidents sporadiques ont eu lieu depuis l’entrée en vigueur d’un fragile cessez-le-feu qui a mis fin à une guerre éclair de 11 jours, du 10 au 21 mai. La dernière fois que ces lancers de ballons de l’enclave palestinienne avaient provoqué un incendie en Israël remonte au 2 juillet.
