Le gouvernement algérien surfe sur l’affaire Pegasus. Dans une interview accordée à un média de son pays, le ministre algérien de la Communication, Ammar Belhimer, a affirmé que le scandale d’espionnage « israélo-marocain » via le logiciel Pegasus était « une preuve de plus que nul n’est à l’abri de la cybercriminalité ».
Malgré la main tendu du roi Mohammed VI à travers son discours du 22ème anniversaire de la Fête du Trône, l’Algérie continue d’agiter l’affaire Pegasus, dans laquelle le Maroc a été cité dans les révélations de Forbiden Stories et Amnesty International. Le ministre algérien de la Communication, Ammar Belhimer, a fustigé les « les auteurs » de cet espionnage, les qualifiant d’« individus ou des parties sans scrupules », en assurant que la lutte contre ce type de crimes figurait parmi les priorités de son programme d’action.
« Pour ses décisions souveraines et ses positions de principe, mais aussi pour des considérations géostratégiques, l’Algérie est la plus exposée à ces attaques, en témoignent les rapports d’experts à l’instar de la société Kaspersky », a-t-il fait savoir, tout en rappelant que son pays « a occupé la première place arabe et la 14ème mondiale sur la liste des pays les plus exposés à la cybercriminalité pour l’année 2018 ».
Ammar Belhimer a noté que « plus de 80 sites étrangers mènent des campagnes de diffamations contre l’Algérie ». « Notre pays est conscient des défis imposés par le mauvais usage d’Internet, c’est pourquoi il veille à garantir la sécurité informatique relative à la vie des individus et l’intégrité des organes de l’Etat », a-t-il ajouté, en rappelant « la création du premier centre de cybersécurité qui permet à plusieurs entreprises et organes de bénéficier de ses services à même de faire face aux cyber-attaques ».
