La Chine fait face à une légère reprise de l’épidémie de Covid-19 en raison du variant Delta.
La Chine est confrontée à une flambée de l’épidémie de Covid-19. La pire depuis le début de la crise de Wuhan. Mardi les autorités sanitaires chinoises disent avoir recensé 143 nouveaux cas de Covid-19, dont 108 qui proviennent d’un même cluster. Ce chiffre n’avait pas été atteint depuis sept mois.
Tout est parti d’un foyer de contamination à l’aéroport de Nankin, il se situe à l’est du pays. Fin juillet, neuf employés, chargés du ménage dans les avions, sont testés positif au Covid-19, grâce à un dépistage aléatoire.
Mais entre temps ils ont déjà contaminé d’autres collègues. En quelques semaines le virus s’étend à plusieurs villes et provinces chinoises. Les autorités avancent une explication: cette reprise de l’épidémie est liée au variant delta plus contagieux.
En Chine, c’est aussi le pic de la saison touristique
Les Chinois voyagent énormément en train, en avion dans le pays. Alors c’est vrai que ces 143 nouveaux cas peuvent paraitre un peu dérisoires comparés au 1,4 milliard d’habitants que comptent le pays. Mais en Chine on ne plaisante pas avec le risque de voir l’épidémie repartir de plus belle. Ces derniers mois, les autorités disaient avoir réussi à ramené le nombre de contaminations quasiment à zéro.
Quelles mesures sont prises par Pékin pour contenir cette flambée de l’épidémie?
Les autorités organisent d’abord des dépistages massifs. A Wuhan, là où le Covid avait fait son apparition, ce weekend les 11 millions d’habitants ont été dépistés. A Yangzou, à l’est du pays, 5 séries de tests à grande échelle ont été menés, 1,6 millions de tests ont été réalisés.
Et l’histoire semble se répéter, à Zanjiaji, dans le nord ouest du pays, tous les lieux touristiques sont fermés depuis le 30 juillet. Des confinement locaux ont même été décrétés. 31 provinces et villes chinoises demandent à leurs habitants de ne pas quitter leur territoire sauf cas de force majeure.
Plusieurs hauts fonctionnaires ont reçu des avertissements, ils sont tenus de rendre des comptes pour leur manque de vigilance et leur mauvaise gestion des tests. Les autorités se veulent en tout cas rassurantes : cette résurgence de l’épidémie est « contrôlable », disent ils, d’où ces mesures très drastiques.
