La France a mis fin de l’opération Apagan en Afghanistan, ont annoncé vendredi Jean-Yves Le Drian, ministre des Affaires étrangères, et Florence Parly, ministre des Armées, dans un communiqué.
« Le désengagement rapide des forces américaines en charge de la sécurité de l’aéroport de Kaboul étant confirmé à court terme et les conditions de sécurité n’étant plus remplies sur l’aéroport, nos opérations d’évacuation ont pris fin ce vendredi 27 août », était-il dit dans le communiqué.
L’opération Apagan avait été déclenchée le 15 août dernier à la demande du président français Emmanuel Macron, après la prise de pouvoir des taliban en Afghanistan.
« En moins de deux semaines, les militaires français ont mis en sécurité près de 3.000 personnes, dont plus de 2.600 Afghans qui ont été accueillis en France », a écrit Florence Parly sur Twitter.
La France a annoncé qu’elle continuerait son travail de protection des personnes menacées en Afghanistan après le 31 août.
« Nous poursuivrons nos efforts engagés auprès des responsables taliban pour garantir qu’ils ne mettront aucune entrave après le 31 août au départ de ceux qui le souhaiteront », concluait le communiqué.
Un avion transportant 59 personnes évacuées depuis l’aéroport de Kaboul, la capitale afghane, doit arriver à Paris dans la nuit.
