L’ONU demande aux États-Unis de lever leurs sanctions envers l’Iran en conformité avec l’accord sur le nucléaire iranien de 2015 et à Téhéran de revenir à ses engagements pour limiter son programme atomique.
«J’appelle les États-Unis à lever leurs sanctions comme indiqué (dans l’accord) et à étendre les dérogations concernant le commerce du pétrole avec l’Iran», a déclaré mardi la secrétaire générale adjointe de l’ONU pour les Affaires politiques, Rosemary DiCarlo, alors que des négociations internationales ont repris à Vienne sur le programme nucléaire iranien.
«L’extension des dérogations américaines concernant certaines activités civiles liées au nucléaire (…) est également importante», a ajouté la responsable au Conseil de sécurité de l’ONU. «Des prolongations de dérogation sont également nécessaires pour le transfert d’uranium enrichi hors d’Iran en échange d’uranium naturel», a-t-elle précisé.
Quant à l’Iran, «nous (lui) demandons de revenir sur les mesures prises qui ne sont pas conformes à ses engagements liés au nucléaire» dans le cadre de l’accord, a-t-elle poursuivi, en rappelant que le dernier rapport de l’AIEA (Agence internationale de l’énergie atomique) recensait les violations des engagements iraniens depuis que les États-Unis de Donald Trump ont quitté en 2018 l’accord de 2015.
La porte reste ouverte
Dans une déclaration commune, l’Allemagne, le Royaume-Uni et la France, parties de l’accord nucléaire avec la Russie et la Chine, ont assuré que «la porte diplomatique restait fermement ouverte pour un accord maintenant». «L’Iran doit choisir entre l’effondrement» de l’accord nucléaire «et un accord juste et global», dans l’intérêt du peuple iranien, ont ajouté ces pays.
L’ambassadeur iranien à l’ONU, Majid Takht Ravanchi, a assuré que son pays, pour reprendre ses engagements dans l’accord nucléaire, «n’imposait aucune préconditions ou nouvelles conditions», et que toutes ses mesures prises depuis le départ de l’accord des États-Unis étaient «réversibles». Son homologue américaine, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, s’est bornée à rappeler pour sa part que les États-Unis étaient «préparés à se conformer à nouveau (à l’accord) si l’Iran fait de même». Les négociations indirectes entre l’Iran et les États-Unis, par l’intermédiaire notamment des Européens, ont repris fin novembre à Vienne pour tenter de ressusciter l’accord de 2015 censé empêcher la République islamique de se doter de la bombe atomique.
