Les autorités camerounaises et la Confédération africaine de football (CAF) ont décliné le 16 décembre 2021 au cours d’une déclaration conjointe à Yaoundé, les dispositions sanitaires pratiques qui permettront aux supporters d’accéder dans les stades lors de la Coupe d’Afrique des nations (CAN) qui se déroulera du 9 janvier au 6 février 2022 au Cameroun.
En vue de lutter contre la propagation de la pandémie de coronavirus pendant ce tournoi de football qui drainera certainement des foules, il a été décidé que « les supporters ne pourront accéder aux stades dans lesquels se joueront les matches de la CAN 2021 que s’ils sont entièrement vaccinés et présentent un test PCR négatif de moins de 72 h ou d’un TDR anti-génique négatif de moins de 24 h ».
Toutefois, pour garantir une présence des spectateurs dans les stades et permettre le déroulement des matches dans un esprit festif, « les autorités sanitaires compétentes prendront toutes les mesures nécessaires pour faciliter la vaccination et la réalisation des tests COVID sur l’ensemble des sites de la compétition ».
Par ailleurs, « dans un souci d’objectivité et neutralité et en vue de garantir les mesures de confiance de part et d’autre, la CAF va faire appel à un laboratoire indépendant internationalement reconnu pour tester les joueurs et les équipes nationales qualifiées et leur encadrement ».
