Près de 94.124 nouveaux cas ont été enregistrés en 24 heures, sous l’effet de la cinquième vague qui s’intensifie portée par le variant Omicron, beaucoup plus contagieux. Sur les sept derniers jours, la moyenne s’est établie à 66.417 cas.
Le précédent record remonte à jeudi où plus de 91.000 cas avaient été enregistrés. Il faut remonter au pic de la 2e vague, soit novembre 2020, pour retrouver de pareils niveaux (86.852).
Des milliers de Français se sont précipités vendredi dans les pharmacies afin de se faire tester pour espérer passer Noël en famille.
La pression continue aussi de monter sur les services de soins critiques, qui comptent 3.254 patients contre 3.208 mardi, avec 316 nouvelles admissions. 16.173 personnes sont actuellement hospitalisées contre 16.060 la veille, avec 1.398 nouvelles admissions.
Le nombre de décès depuis le début de l’épidémie atteint 122.462, soit 169 de plus que la veille.
Depuis le début de la campagne de vaccination en France, 52.686. personnes ont reçu au moins une injection (soit 78,1 % de la population totale) et 51.585.838 personnes ont désormais un schéma vaccinal complet (soit 76,5% de la population totale). Et depuis le début de la campagne de rappel, 21.933.063 personnes ont reçu une dose supplémentaire.
