Au Chili, l’Assemblée constituante choisit à partir de ce mardi sa nouvelle présidence. Six mois après le début de ses travaux, la Constituante est à mi parcours. Objectif : proposer dès juillet 2022 un texte pour remplacer la Constitution héritée de la dictature du général Pinochet. Un scrutin qui se déroule dans un climat d’optimisme puisque le nouveau président, élu il y a deux semaines, a affiché son soutien sans réserve à cette assemblée.
Au moins six élu(e)s ont annoncé publiquement leur candidature à la présidence de l’Assemblée constituante. Mais à quelques heures du vote, il est difficile de savoir qui dirigera les débats, jusqu’en juillet.
Plusieurs postes sont à pourvoir :
– D’abord, ce mardi, la présidence et la vice présidence. Et une femme devrait encore une fois être élue à la tête de la Constituante. Rappelons que la présidente sortante Elisa Loncon, universitaire issue du peuple autochtone mapuche et les différents vice présidents vont redevenir de simples constituants. Parmi les favorites du scrutin, on trouve Cristina Dorador, une scientifique du Nord du pays et Patricia Politzer, une ancienne journaliste.
– Ensuite, mercredi, ce sera au tour des sept vice présidences adjointes. Deux sont réservées aux peuples autochtones, et la parité hommes femmes doit être respectée.
L’élection a lieu dans une ambiance plutôt optimiste. Car le nouveau président de gauche Gabriel Boric (qui prendra officiellement ses fonctions le 11 mars) soutient ouvertement la Constituante, contrairement au candidat d’extrême droite José Antonio Kast, à qui il était opposé au second tour le 19 décembre. A peine élu, le futur nouveau président a effectué une visite symbolique à l’Assemblée constituante avant même de rencontrer les représentants du Sénat et de la chambre des députés.
