Le parquet national antiterroriste français ouvre une enquête préliminaire après l’explosion qui a touché, le 30 décembre dernier, une voiture du rallye Dakar qui se déroule en ce moment en Arabie saoudite, voiture dans laquelle circulait cinq Français. Le pilote Philippe Boutron a été gravement blessé. Le PNAT n’écarte donc pas la piste criminelle.
Pour les autorités saoudiennes, il s’agit d’un accident. Mais la justice française, elle, n’en est pas si sûre. Le Parquet national antiterroriste a donc ouvert une enquête préliminaire pour « tentative d’assassinats en relation avec une entreprise terroriste ». La DGSI, la Direction de la sécurité intérieure, est chargée de faire toute la lumière sur ce qui s’est passé le 30 décembre dernier à Jeddah.
Un appel à la « vigilance maximale »
Au moment de l’explosion, Philippe Boutron, qui est au volant, et son équipage viennent de quitter leur hôtel où ils ont passé la nuit. Ils se rendent au bivouac installé dans un stade pour les vérifications techniques d’usage avant le départ du rallye deux jours plus tard. Le pilote âgé de 61 ans est gravement blessé aux jambes.
Opéré en Arabie saoudite, il a ensuite été rapatrié en France. Il est toujours hospitalisé à l’hôpital militaire Percy, à Clamart, et a été placé en coma artificiel.
Le ministère français des Affaires étrangères appelle ses ressortissants à la « vigilance maximale » et rappelle que « la menace terroriste persiste en Arabie saoudite ».
