En riposte à l’attaque perpétrée lundi sur le sol émirati et revendiquée par les Houthis, la coalition militaire menée par l’Arabie saoudite a effectué dans la soirée des raids aériens sur Sanaa, la capitale yéménite aux mains des Houthis, selon l’agence officielle de presse saoudienne. Plus tôt dans la journée, une explosion de camions-citernes transportant du carburant avait fait trois morts et six blessés à Abu Dhabi, capitale des Émirats arabes unis.
La coalition militaire menée par l’Arabie saoudite et qui combat les rebelles au Yémen a annoncé, lundi 17 janvier au soir, des frappes aériennes sur Sanaa, la capitale yéménite contrôlée par les Houthis, après une attaque meurtrière aux Émirats arabes unis, membre de cette alliance militaire.
« En réponse à la menace et une nécessité militaire, des frappes aériennes commencent à Sanaa », a-t-elle annoncé dans un tweet de SPA, l’agence de presse officielle de l’Arabie saoudite, qui dirige cette coalition.
L’attaque à Abu Dhabi a suscité des condamnations internationales de pays arabes et occidentaux, en tête desquels les États-Unis, ainsi que de l’ONU. Les Émirats ont pour leur part averti qu’elle ne resterait « pas impunie ».
Missiles balistiques et drones
Annonçant le lancement d’une opération militaire baptisée « Ouragan du Yémen », les Houthis ont affirmé sur leur chaîne Al-Massira avoir « ciblé des installations et site émiratis importants et sensibles » à l’aide de missiles balistiques et de drones.
« Nous prévenons les entreprises étrangères, les citoyens et les résidents de l’État ennemi des Émirats qu’ils devraient se tenir éloignés des sites vitaux pour leur propre sécurité », a ajouté le porte-parole militaire des Houthis, Yahya Saree, dans une allocution sur Al-Massira.
À Abu Dhabi, trois camions-citernes ont explosé « près des réservoirs de stockage » de la compagnie pétrolière d’Abu Dhabi, entraînant la mort d’un Pakistanais et de deux Indiens, a indiqué l’agence officielle émiratie WAM, faisant état de six blessés.
En outre, un « incendie mineur » s’est produit dans « la nouvelle zone de construction de l’aéroport international d’Abu Dhabi », a ajouté l’agence sans faire état de victime.
