Ce jeudi 20 janvier 2022, le président Muhammadu Buhari a mis en service un pont à Kaduna, huit ans après avoir frôlé les terroristes de Boko Haram dans la région.
Le président est dans l’État pour inaugurer certains projets lancés par le gouvernement de Kaduna dirigé par Nasir el-Rufai. S’exprimant après avoir inauguré le pont aérien Kawo remodelé le long de la route de Zaria, Muhammadu Buhari a raconté comment il avait échappé de peu à la mort dans la région huit ans auparavant.
“Ils voulaient me faire sauter ici, mais mon escorte les a en quelque sorte arrêtés”, a-t-il déclaré. Dans une déclaration qu’il a personnellement signée à la suite de l’attaque de 2014, Muhammadu Buhari avait décrit l’incident comme une tentative d’assassinat.
“J’ai été personnellement impliqué dans un attentat à la bombe clairement ciblé le long de la route Ali Akilu, à Kawo-Kaduna, vers 14h30, alors que je me rendais à Daura”, avait-il écrit. Lors de la mise en service du pont Kawu jeudi, le gouverneur Nasir El-Rufai a aussi rappelé l’incident.
Le gouverneur a déclaré lors de l’événement : “C’est un grand honneur et un privilège pour moi, Monsieur le Président, de vous amener sur le pont aérien de Kawu. M. le Président se souviendra très bien de ce pont car c’est juste sous ce pont que Boko Haram a essayé de vous tuer.
“Par la grâce de Dieu, vous êtes toujours en vie, vous êtes avec nous et Dieu vous a préservé pour que vous nous guidiez et nous inspiriez pour faire certaines des choses que nous faisons”.
Ce jeudi, une équipe combinée de soldats lourdement armés et de policiers a été déployée dans des endroits stratégiques de la ville de Kaduna avant la visite du président Buhari.
