Au cours du podcast WTF diffusé lundi 24 janvier 2022, Peter Dinklage a déploré la vision portée par Disney dans le remake du film Blanche-Neige et les sept nains. Une interview lors de laquelle l’acteur a déclaré peu apprécier la représentation de la production concernant les personnes atteinte de nanisme. Après ces critiques, Disney a fait un choix fort.
Après Le Roi Lion, Cendrillon, Le livre de la jungle ou La belle et la bête, Disney travaille actuellement sur un remake de Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains en prise de vues réelles, sous la direction de Marc Webb. Un projet qui, selon Peter Dinklage, met en scène de manière rétrograde les personnes de petite taille. « Dans un sens, vous êtes progressistes mais vous racontez toujours cette putain d’histoire arriérée à propos de sept nains qui vivent dans une cave ensemble », a ainsi déclaré celui qui avait un groupe de rock au cours du podcast WTF diffusé lundi 24 janvier 2022. Et l’ancienne tête d’affiche de Games of thrones, atteint de nanisme, de poursuivre avec agacement : « Qu’est-ce que vous faites, putain ? N’ai-je rien fait pour faire avancer la cause ? Il faut croire que ma voix ne porte pas assez« . Véritablement décontenancé cette nouvelle adaptation à venir, Peter Dinklage a conclu son ses déclarations en assurant ne vouloir « vraiment offenser personne ». « Prenez du recul et regardez ce que vous faites. Ça n’a aucun sens pour moi », a-t-il conclu.

Les critiques virulentes de Peter Dinklage, acteur qui a choqué le public des Emmy Awards, ont certainement motivé le studio Disney a revoir sa copie. « Pour éviter de renforcer les stéréotypes du film d’animation original, nous adoptons une approche différente sur ces sept personnages et avons consulté des membres de la communauté du nanisme », a ainsi indiqué la production dans un communiqué relayé par The Wrap.
Et d’ajouter : « Nous nous réjouissons à l’idée d’en partager davantage à mesure que le film entre en production, après une longue période de développement ». Selon le média américain, Disney chercherait actuellement des « créatures magiques » pour remplacer les 7 acolytes de Blanche-Neige. Une version inédite est donc en préparation.
