Neuf personnes ont été tuées à Ciudad Juarez, dans le nord du Mexique, lors de deux attaques lancées pendant la veillée funèbre puis les funérailles d’un homme qui avait lui-même été assassiné, a annoncé samedi le parquet local.
La première attaque par balles a visé, dans la nuit de vendredi à samedi, la maison où le corps de l’homme assassiné mercredi était veillé par ses proches. Trois personnes ont alors été tuées.
Le corps du défunt a ensuite été transporté samedi dans un temple protestant, où un groupe d’hommes armés a fait irruption et ouvert le feu, tuant six autres personnes. Les victimes sont six hommes, deux femmes et un enfant.
Les deux fusillades ont également fait deux blessés, a indiqué le parquet de l’État de Chihuaha (nord), dans un communiqué.
Située à la frontière avec les États-Unis, face à El paso (Texas), Ciudad Juarez est l’une des villes les plus violentes du Mexique. Plus de 1.400 meurtres y ont été recensés en 2021, résultat pour la plupart d’affrontements sanglants entre bandes rivales de trafiquants de drogue.
