Mais « le coût de l’élimination (du virus) a dépassé les avantages pour Hong Kong au milieu ou à la fin de 2021 », a écrit dans un article David Owens, fondateur des cabinets de santé OT&P.
Alors même que des vaccins efficaces étaient devenus disponibles, l’absence de circulation du virus dans la ville grâce à cette politique de « zéro Covid » a en effet fait douter de nombreux Hongkongais, surtout les personnes âgées pourtant les plus vulnérables, de la nécessité de se faire vacciner.
