Le ministre grec des Affaires étrangères, Nikos Dendias, a annoncé, mercredi, à Dakar, l’ouverture, dans la capitale sénégalaise, de la première ambassade de son pays en Afrique de l’Ouest. Le bâtiment prévu pour abriter les services diplomatiques de la Grèce sera inauguré cet après-midi, a-t-il déclaré.
Nikos Dendias a signé avec son homologue du Sénégal, Aïssata Tall Sall, un protocole d’entente en vue de la tenue de ‘’consultations politiques régulières’’ entre Dakar et Athènes. ‘’Je me réjouis de la signature de ce protocole d’entente sur les consultations politiques régulières, qui constitue la base [de] toute la coopération entre nos deux pays’’, a dit Mme Sall. Elle s’est ‘’félicitée’’ du choix fait du Sénégal par la Grèce pour ‘’ouvrir sa première ambassade en Afrique de l’Ouest, faisant de Dakar sa porte d’entrée dans la région’’.
‘’Ce protocole d’entente permettra d’approfondir notre coopération dans les domaines militaire (marine marchande), de la santé, de l’enseignement supérieur et du tourisme’’, a expliqué Aïssata Tall Sall. L’accord signé prend également en compte la migration, la Grèce étant un pays de ‘’transit’’ pour de nombreux migrants, et le Sénégal un pays de départ, a-t-elle ajouté.
‘’Je suis sûre que nous aurons d’autres domaines de coopération à prospecter. Mais on ne peut pas tout faire d’un seul coup’’, a précisé Mme Sall, estimant que ‘’le Sénégal et la Grèce ont beaucoup de [similitudes] relatives notamment à la sensibilité et à l’ouverture envers les autres’’.
Le choix de Dakar pour l’implantation de la première ambassade de la Grèce en Afrique de l’Ouest ‘’est motivé par le leadership politique [du] Sénégal au niveau continental’’, selon Nikos Dendias. Son pays ‘’a beaucoup à apporter au Sénégal’’ dans les domaines de coopération pris en compte par le protocole d’entente, a-t-il assuré.
‘’L’expérience de la Grèce en matière de politique touristique pourra permettre au Sénégal de tracer sa voie entre le tourisme de masse et le tourisme de luxe’’, a dit M. Dendias. S’agissant de la migration, le ministre grec est d’avis que l’Europe a intérêt à ‘’écouter l’Afrique’’. Il a annoncé la tenue d’un forum réunissant des hommes d’affaires sénégalais et grecs, sans en indiquer ni la date, ni le lieu.
