Au Niger, une nouvelle attaque dans le Tillabéry. Elle a eu lieu dimanche, mais on ne l’a appris que le mardi 21 février 2022 au soir, dans cette région de l’ouest du pays, zone dites des trois frontières, proche du Mali et du Burkina Faso. Selon les autorités du Niger, au moins 18 personnes ont été tuées dans cette attaque d’un camion par des hommes armés.
Le camion de transport circulait entre Taroun et Tizigorou, dans le département de Banibangou, quand il a été attaqué par des hommes armés arrivés sur plusieurs motos, selon le communiqué du ministère nigérien de l’Intérieur, diffusé mardi soir à la télévision nationale. Le camion a été incendié. Les assaillants n’ont pas été identifiés, précise le même texte, mais des opérations de ratissage sont en cours dans la zone.
L’année dernière, la zone de Banibangou a déjà été le théâtre de plusieurs attaques meurtrières, qui ont visé des civils, notamment dans les villages et les champs. En novembre, les autorités avaient annoncé la mort de 69 membres d’un comité de vigilance, tués par des hommes armés. Le mois précédent, une dizaine de personnes avaient été tués dans une mosquée, au moment de la prière du soir. Et en mars dernier, des véhicules, de retour du grand marché hebdomadaire de Banibangou, avaient été pris pour cibles. L’attaque avait fait 66 morts.
