La Fédération internationale de football association (FIFA) a suspendu avec « effet immédiat » les fédérations du Zimbabwe et du Kenya de toutes les activités de football pour « cause d’influence indue d’un tiers ».
Dans un communiqué, la FIFA a décidé ce jeudi « sans préjuger des enquêtes menées par les autorités nationales ou d’autres instances juridictionnelles » de suspendre « avec effet immédiat » les fédérations du Kenya et du Zimbabwe pour « cause d’influence indue par un tiers ». Les présidents de fédérations de ces deux nations, Nick Mwendwa (Kenya) et Felton Kamambo (Zimbabwe) ont tous les deux démissionné sur pression de l’autorité étatique.
Des structures provisoires ont été également mises en place par les ministères des Sports de ces pays sans l’aval de la FIFA. Gianni Infantino est revenu sur cette décision après une réunion du Conseil de la FIFA . « Nous avons nos statuts et nous attendons des pays qu’ils s’y conforment. On veut travailler avec le gouvernement, mais il y a toujours une ligne, il faut la respecter. Ils savent ce qui doit être fait pour que la suspension soit levée. »
En conséquence, ces deux fédérations « perdent tous leurs droits de membre à partir du 24 février 2022 jusqu’à nouvel ordre », a déclaré l’instance dirigeante du football. « Les équipes représentatives et les équipes de ces deux fédérations ne sont donc plus autorisées à participer aux compétitions internationales jusqu’à la levée de la suspension » souligne le communiqué. Selon la FIFA, la suspension sera levée si les gouvernements de ces deux pays remettent en place les structures fédérales légalement mises en place.
