Nouvelle défaite pour le Real Betis qui perd gros dans la course à une qualification en Ligue des Champions. Battus le week-end dernier dans le derby sévillan face au FC Séville, les joueurs de Manuel Pellegrini sont tombés contre l’Atlético Madrid, ce dimanche soir, à l’occasion de la 27e journée du Championnat d’Espagne.
S’il a réussi à égaliser avant la pause grâce à une merveille de but de Cristian Tello, servi par Youssouf Sabaly, le Betis a succombé en seconde période. Auteur du premier but de la rencontre (2e), João Félix a doublé la mise à la 61e. Puis, Thomas Lemar, sur une passe décisive de Griezmann, a marqué le 1-3 (80e).
Avec cette deuxième défait d’affilée en Championnat, le Real Betis sort du top 4 et est relégué à la 5e place à deux unités de son adversaire du jour. Youssouf Sabaly et ses partenaires devront vite se reprendre puisque leur prochaine rencontre sera jeudi prochain contre l’Eintracht Francfort en 8e de finale aller de Ligue Europa.
