Parmi les victimes collatérales de la guerre en Ukraine se trouvent les journalistes, qui paient un lourd tribut. En effet, Pierre Zakrzewski de la chaîne américaine conservatrice FoxNews a perdu la vie, ce lundi 14 mars, lors d’une fusillade à Honenka, ville située à une vingtaine de kilomètres au Nord-Ouest de Kiev.
Il était accompagné d’une journaliste ukrainienne de 24 ans, Oleksandra Kuvshynova. Leur mort porte à 5 le nombre de journalistes tués depuis le début du conflit, selon Marianne.net.
« C’est avec une grande tristesse et le cœur lourd que nous partageons la nouvelle de ce matin concernant notre cameraman bien-aimé Pierre Zakrzewski. Pierre a été tué à Horenka, à l’extérieur de Kiev, en Ukraine. Pierre était avec Benjamin Hall hier lors d’un reportage lorsque leur véhicule a été touché par des tirs.
Pierre était un photographe de zone de guerre qui a couvert presque tous les sujets internationaux pour FOX News, de l’Irak à l’Afghanistan en passant par la Syrie, au cours de sa longue carrière avec nous. Basé à Londres, Pierre travaillait en Ukraine depuis février », a témoigné la directrice générale de FoxNews dans un message largement partagé par les médias occidentaux.
Désigné « héros discret » par la chaîne en décembre, Zakrzewski avait « joué un rôle clé dans l’évacuation de (nos) pigistes afghans et de leurs familles après le retrait américain d’Afghanistan », a-t-elle ajouté.
