La Russie a annoncé mardi avoir imposé des sanctions contre le président américain Joe Biden, son secrétaire d’Etat Antony Blinken et plusieurs autres hauts responsables des Etats-Unis en réponse aux mesures punitives imposées par Washington à Moscou en réaction à l’invasion de l’Ukraine.
Les sanctions – qui interdiront aux responsables visés l’accès au territoire russe – ciblent au total 13 individus parmi lesquels le secrétaire à la Défense Lloyd Austin, le directeur de la CIA William Burns, le conseiller à la sécurité nationale Jake Sullivan, mais aussi l’ancienne secrétaire d’Etat Hillary Clinton.
Selon Moscou, cette mesure « est la conséquence inévitable du cap extrêmement russophobe que poursuit l’actuelle administration américaine. »
Le ministère russe des Affaires étrangères a cependant dit maintenir des relations officielles avec Washington et garantir que des contacts à haut niveau avec des personnes figurant sur cette liste puissent avoir lieu.
