Du 1er avril au 30 juin va se tenir l’exposition « Picasso à Dakar, 1972-2022 ». Une exposition où seront présentés 40 objets d’art dont 13 chefs d’œuvre de l’artiste espagnol.
L’an 2022 est une année repère dans l’œuvre du peintre. Il représente un cycle de 50 ans. Dakar abritait, en effet, en 1972 une exposition de quelques créations de Pablo Picasso sous le magistère de Léopold Sédar Senghor, le président de la République du Sénégal d’alors.
L’exposition de 1972 était précédée par une première présentation de l’artiste au Festival mondial des arts nègres de 1966. Un de ces ouvrages avait été à l’admiration du public.
Un demi-siècle plus tard le Musée des Civilisations Noires en partenariat avec le Musée du Quai-Branly et le Musée d’Art Africain organise cette exposition Picasso. Un grand rendez-vous du monde de la culture à Dakar
Ce programme est à l’initiative du ministère de la Culture et de la Communication du Sénégal, le ministère français de la Culture, des équipes de l’ambassade de France au Sénégal et de l’Institut français de Dakar.
