Après une année sans musique en 2020, les Pays-Bas peuvent enfin organiser leur Eurovision cette année. Le concours avait été annulé l’an dernier. Devant un public restreint, 39 pays sont en compétition pour les demi-finales de mardi et jeudi, et la finale samedi.
Barbara Pravi, la candidate française, est favorite avec sa chanson « Voilà » et son petit air d’Edith Piaf.
La fête de la chanson aura lieu dans une salle remplie à seulement 20%. 3500 spectateurs, avec un test négatif mais sans masque, vont assister à une compétition sous le signe du Covid-19 malgré tout : l’Autriche par exemple participera via une vidéo pré-enregistrée, et quatre équipes ont été privées de cérémonie d’ouverture dimanche soir, après la découverte d’un cas positif au Covid-19 dans les délégations polonaises et islandaises. Les équipes de Roumanie et de Malte, qui logeaient dans le même hôtel, n’y ont pas participé non plus.
