Le premier séisme de magnitude 6,4 a frappé la province du Yunnan vendredi soir. Le deuxième séisme de magnitude 7,3 s’est produit quelques heures plus tard dans la partie sud de la province de Qinghai, à environ 1000 kilomètres (621 miles) au sud, selon les mesures chinoises.
Le géophysicien de l’US Geological Survey, Jonathan Tytell, a déclaré que les deux tremblements de terre n’étaient pas liés.
Le tremblement de terre de Qinghai a été suivi de 453 répliques tout au long de la matinée jusqu’à midi, selon le quotidien officiel du Peuple. Au moins huit personnes ont été blessées.
