Finalistes de la dernière édition à Brazzaville (Congo), les Lionnes du Sénégal ont reçu leur entrée à la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations de handball féminin, qui se déroule actuellement à Yaoundé, au Cameroun. En ouverture des trois rencontres au programme, le Sénégal a facilement disposé de Madagascar (42-16) dans le groupe A. La Guinée a plié devant la Tunisie (27-30).
L’une des grosses cylindrées du handball féminin sur le continent, le Sénégal, n’a pas fait dans la dentelle face à l’équipe de Madagascar (42-16), dans le groupe A. Après une partie aboutie, la capitaine des Lionnes, Hawa Ndiaye, a été élue MVP du match. Sans trop forcer, les joueuses de Frédéric Bougeant ont soigné leur entrée en matière, chose importante dans ce championnat d’Afrique qu’elles envisagent de remporter, pour la première fois.
Dans le même groupe, la Guinée a failli créer la sensation face à la Tunisie. Les Guinéennes ont cependant pêché sur la fin. Rakia Rezgui et ses coéquipières en ont profité pour s’imposer (30-27). Vendredi, les Guinéennes vont en découdre avec les Sénégalaises, avec la ferme intention de se relancer. La capitaine de la Guinée, Djénéba Tandjan, promet de rectifier les erreurs. « On connaît le Sénégal et on va essayer de rectifier », dit-elle.
Pour la capitaine Djénéba Tandjan, interrogée en conférence de presse d’après match, il ne faut toutefois pas s’enflammer. « Ce n’est que le premier match. Le Congo était exempté pour cette 1ère journée dans le groupe C, puisque l’Algérie a déclaré forfait. Ce jeudi, deux matchs sont inscrits au programme du groupe B, RD Congo / Kenya et Cameroun / Nigeria.
