L’ancien Premier ministre ivoirien en exil Guillaume Soro a été condamné, mercredi à Abidjan, à la prison à perpétuité pour « atteinte à la sûreté de l’État » pour des faits commis fin 2019.
La condamnation est tombée en l’absence de l’accusé, qui vit en exil. L’ancien Premier ministre ivoirien et ex-chef rebelle Guillaume Soro a été condamné, mercredi 23 juin à Abidjan, à la prison à perpétuité pour « atteinte à la sûreté de l’État » pour des faits commis fin 2019.
La cour d’assises d’Abidjan a suivi les réquisitions du parquet, tout comme pour les principaux autres accusés, Souleymane Kamagaté, ex-chef du protocole de Guillaume Soro, Affoussy Bamba, ancienne ministre, et Touré Moussa, son ancien chef de la communication, condamnés à 20 ans de prison, a constaté un journaliste de l’AFP.
Deux des frères de Guillaume Soro et son ancien bras droit, Alain Lobognon, ont eux été condamnés à 17 mois de prison pour « troubles à l’ordre public ».
Des « actes subversifs »
La cour a également ordonné la confiscation des biens de Guillaume Soro et de ses 19 coprévenus, ainsi que la dissolution de son mouvement, Générations et peuples solidaires (GPS), accusé de se livrer à « des actes subversifs ». Elle a ordonné aux condamnés de payer solidairement un milliard de francs CFA (150 millions d’euros) à l’État ivoirien.
« Pour lui, ce sera la prison à perpétuité », avait déclaré en octobre le président Alassane Ouattara au sujet de Guillaume Soro, son ancien allié.
L’ex-président Premier ministre et ancien président de l’Assemblée nationale était accusé d’avoir fomenté avec ses partisans une « insurrection civile et militaire » visant à renverser le pouvoir lors de son retour avorté en Côte d’Ivoire en décembre 2019, dix mois avant l’élection présidentielle d’octobre 2020.
Guillaume Soro, 49 ans, qui vit en exil, et ses coaccusés étaient accusés de « complot », « tentative d’atteinte contre l’autorité de l’État » ainsi que de « diffusion et publication de nouvelles fausses jetant le discrédit sur les institutions et leur fonctionnement, ayant entraîné une atteinte au moral des populations ».

Chef de la rébellion qui contrôlait la moitié Nord de la Côte d’Ivoire dans les années 2000, Guillaume Soro avait aidé militairement Alassane Ouattara à accéder au pouvoir lors de la crise post-électorale de 2010-2011 face au président sortant Laurent Gbagbo, qui refusait d’admettre sa défaite dans les urnes.
Après la victoire, Guillaume Soro était devenu le premier chef du gouvernement d’Alassane Ouattara, puis avait été nommé en 2012 président de l’Assemblée nationale, poste qu’il a occupé jusqu’en 2019.
Mais les deux hommes se sont peu à peu brouillés, jusqu’à la rupture consommée début 2019, en raison, selon les observateurs, des ambitions présidentielles de Guillaume Soro.
En avril 2020, ce dernier Soro avait déjà été condamné à 20 ans de prison pour recel de détournement de deniers publics pour avoir tenté, selon la justice, de s’approprier une résidence achetée par l’État pour le loger lorsqu’il était Premier ministre. Cette condamnation avait justifié l’invalidation quelques mois plus tard de sa candidature à la présidentielle.
