Toute l’affaire remonte au 2 juillet, lorsque Kaseya, une société américaine spécialisée dans la vente de logiciels aux entreprises, a été prise pour cible par des hackers. Les conséquences ont été rapides, puisque des centaines d’entreprises ont été touchées. Des ordinateurs du monde entier équipés par Kaseya ont été paralysés. Il n’aura pas fallu longtemps avant que des experts pointent REvil du doigt.
Le FBI lui-même n’arrive pas à suivre les plaintes des concernés. «Bien que l’ampleur de cet incident puisse nous empêcher de répondre à chaque victime individuellement, toutes les informations que nous recevrons seront utiles pour contrer cette menace», a déclaré l’agence fédérale américaine. Une enquête a été ouverte sur demande de Joe Biden, sans que l’on sache pour le moment si la Russie a véritablement joué un rôle dans cette attaque.
LES ETATS-UNIS RENFORCENT LA CYBERSÉCURITÉ
Ce n’est pas la première fois que les entreprises américaines sont la cible des hackers ces derniers mois. Les attaques de grande envergure se sont ainsi multipliées. En mai dernier, des oléoducs avaient ainsi été piratés, causant une panique dans les stations essence. Les habitants de plusieurs Etats s’étaient rués sur les pompes par crainte d’une pénurie.
En mars 2020, des centaines d’entreprises et agences gouvernementales ont également été ciblées par une attaque. Les hackers avaient ainsi piraté SolarWinds Orion, un logiciel de gestion informatique. Moscou a été largement accusé par Washington d’être à l’origine de la manoeuvre. Depuis, plusieurs mesures ont été prises pour renforcer la sécurité informatique américaine, sans que cela n’empêche, pour le moment, d’être à nouveau ciblé.
