Après Pfizer-BioNTech, le président d’AstraZeneca, France Olivier Nataf, a annoncé, vendredi, que le laboratoire envisage lui aussi de demander une autorisation pour une troisième de vaccin modifié qui serait plus efficace contre les variants.
Il s’agit de renforcer la protection immunitaire des personnes déjà vaccinées avec deux doses, face à l’émergence notamment du variant Delta, plus virulent et 60% plus transmissible, a souligné Nataf sur la chaîne d’information en continu BFM TV.
Le laboratoire suédo-britannique affirme disposer de résultats préliminaires, démontrant une protection supplémentaire avec une troisième dose injectée six mois après la deuxième. Selon Olivier Nataf, le laboratoire réfléchit aussi à «l’utilisation d’un vaccin modifié pour être plus efficace contre les variants».
