En Zambie l’inhumation de l’ancien président Kenneth Kaunda doit avoir lieu ce mercredi 7 juillet. Cependant, il n’y a aucune certitude sur la tenue de cette inhumation car une partie de la famille n’est pas d’accord avec le lieu de l’enterrement.
Le gouvernement a prévu l’inhumation de Kenneth Kaunda dans un cimetière réservé aux anciens présidents situé en face du siège du gouvernement à Lusaka. Le programme des funérailles de 6 pages est précis : la cérémonie doit débuter à 10h à la cathédrale anglicane Holy Cross avec l’arrivée du cortège funéraire, le départ pour le cimetière est prévu à midi.
Mais une partie de la famille de Kenneth Kaunda a saisi la justice ce mardi 6 juillet contestant le lieu de l’inhumation. Dans une lettre, plusieurs de ses enfants et petits-enfants demandent à ce que l’ancien président soit inhumé près de son épouse Betthy Kaunda. Ceci conformément aux souhaits du défunt précise la famille. Mardi soir les autorités zambiennes n’avaient pas encore réagi.
L’ex-président est décédé à l’âge de 97 ans, le 17 juin dernier à l’hôpital militaire de Lusaka. Il y avait été admis pour une pneumonie. Un hommage national lui a été rendu vendredi dernier. Plusieurs personnalités de la région dont les présidents kenyan et sud-africain avaient fait le déplacement. Kenneth Kaunda est le père de l’indépendance zambienne dont il a été le premier président.
