La capitale italienne, Rome a abrité du 26 au 28 juillet 2021 le pré-sommet du Sommet des Nations Unies sur les systèmes alimentaires qui préparera le terrain pour l’événement mondial de septembre 2021 en réunissant divers acteurs du monde entier afin de valoriser la puissance des systèmes alimentaires pour faire progresser les 17 Objectifs de développement durable (ODD).
Lors de ce rassemblement, le ministre de l’Agriculture, Désiré Birihanze M’zinga, a représenté la République démocratique du Congo (RDC), au pré-sommet des Nations-Unies sur les systèmes alimentaires organisé à Rome en Italie, en prélude du sommet des chefs d’Etat qui se tiendra en septembre 2021 à New-York, à l’initiative de l’Organisation mondiale de l’agriculture et l’alimentation (FAO), lit-on dans un communiqué de presse du ministère de l’Agriculture rendu public lundi 2 août 2021.
Dans son intervention, Désiré Birihanze a planché sur les systèmes alimentaires en RDC. Il a présenté la politique du pays dans ce secteur suivant la vision du Président de la République, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, qui veut voir l’agriculture prendre le dessus sur les autres activités, en vue de favoriser la diversification économique.
Pour y parvenir, a indiqué le ministre de l’Agriculture, le gouvernement, sur base de son programme d’action, s’est mis à intensifier des activités agricoles, à l’installer des brigades agricoles et à mettre à contribution le Service National.
En marge de ces assises, Désiré Birihanze a pris des contacts avec des congolais de la diaspora ainsi que des investisseurs étrangers, afin qu’ils appuient l’agriculture en RDC.
