Vif émoi dans les rangs du Collectif des intellectuels chrétiens du Mali pour la cohésion sociale, la bonne gouvernance et la paix. Ses membres ont condamné, jeudi 12 août, les récents propos tenus par le ministre malien des Affaires religieuses et du Culte, Mahamadou Koné. Selon le collectif, lors d’une rencontre publique sur la situation socio-politique du Mali, ce dernier a qualifié le pays de « République islamique » et laissé entendre que tout projet de loi qui ne serait pas en conformité avec les principes de l’islam pourrait être rejeté.
Au cours d’une récente sortie publique, le ministre malien des Affaires religieuses et du Culte, Mahamadou Koné, s’adresse à son auditoire : « Y compris d’autres situations qui s’imposent dans notre République islamique. »
Le caractère laïc du Mali remis en cause ?
C’est la phrase qui crée un vif émoi au sein du Collectif des intellectuels chrétiens du Mali pour la cohésion sociale, la bonne gouvernance et la paix. Son porte-parole, Yuhan Coulibaly, s’insurge : « Nous condamnons, avec la dernière énergie, les propos tenus par le ministre des Affaires religieuses et des Cultes. Une telle déclaration met clairement en cause le caractère laïc de notre pays inscrit clairement dans sa Constitution ».
Le collectif soupçonne par ailleurs le ministre des Affaires religieuses de vouloir faire deux poids deux mesures lorsqu’il s’agit des musulmans ou des catholiques. Au Mali, pays laïc, plus de 90% de la population est de confession musulmane. Mais chrétiens et musulmans ont toujours rejeté toute forme d’extrémisme et vivent en harmonie. D’où l’appel des membres du collectif à l’endroit du gouvernement. « Nous interpellons le gouvernement afin qu’il y ait des rappels à l’ordre de ministre, ou de toute autre personne qui s’aventurerait sur ce terrain », poursuit Yuhan Coulibaly.
