En République démocratique du Congo (RDC), 300 millions USD de financements privés allemands vont être mobilisés en faveur de trois nouveaux projets innovants dits porteurs de développement économique et d’emplois. Une promesse de financement qui découle d’un mémorandum d’entente signé le 27 août 2021 à Berlin (Allemagne) par le ministre congolais des Finances, Nicolas Kazadi, et le groupe minier Eurasian Resources en marge du quatrième sommet du pacte du G20 pour l’Afrique « Compact with Africa ».
Il s’agit de la « construction d’un système de stockage d’énergie en utilisant les batteries pour faciliter la mise en œuvre des projets liés à n’importe quel secteur pourvoyeur des recettes », de la « construction d’une de plus large usine solaire PV en RDC pour générer de l’électricité », et de la « construction d’une installation d’enrichissement en aval pour produire des matériaux des batteries assurant la transformation d’environ 20% de la production nationale du cobalt et contribuer à accroitre la valeur ajoutée de près de 15% ».
Ces projets, indique-t-on, permettront de remédier aux factures énergétiques exorbitantes auxquelles sont constamment confrontées les entreprises minières, pétrolières, les hôpitaux et les établissements du système éducatif en RDC.
Le ministre congolais Nicolas Kazadi et le Chief Executive Officer de ERG, Benedikt Sobotka ont salué le partenariat de la RDC avec le secteur privé visant l’accélération de la diversification économique, le développement de l’industrie congolaise, la création des emplois viables et qui rassure les investisseurs dans tous les secteurs.
