Après le succès de son premier long-métrage «Redemption Day», le réalisateur marocain Hicham Hajji s’allie à Nkosinathi Maphumulo, alias DJ Black Coffee, pour un nouveau film sur la musique électronique. Selon Deadline, ce nouveau long-métrage, le deuxième pour le réalisateur marocain, est intitulé «God Is A DJ».
Il s’agit d’une «comédie se déroulant dans le monde de la musique électronique, avec pour mission d’unir le monde», confie le réalisateur marocain, qui évoque un «casting axé sur les minorités» et explique que le film vise à «apporter cette musique de niche au monde à travers les minorités qui la comprennent».
Le film suivra un jeune homme juif et un imam marocain «qui s’associent pour former le duo de DJ masqués le moins probable» et «ensemble, les deux surmontent leur méfiance mutuelle pour affronter le circuit des clubs d’Electronic dance music (EDM)». Le DJ et producteur sud-africain nominé aux Grammy Awards, Black Coffee, qui sera le producteur exécutif du long métrage, est l’un des noms les plus en vue de l’EDM, après avoir collaboré avec Drake, Pharrell Williams, Usher et David Guetta, rappelle Deadline.
Celui-ci précise que Hicham Hajji a créé H Films au Maroc et à Los Angeles en 2008 en partie avec pour mission d’aider les cinéastes et producteurs étrangers à apporter des projets au Maroc et à combler le fossé entre l’Afrique et Hollywood.
