Plus de 5.000 personnes ont manifesté dimanche à Istanbul contre l’inflation et la baisse du pouvoir d’achat, marquant un premier grand rassemblement en raison des turbulences traversées par l’économie turque depuis des semaines.
Réunis à l’appel des principaux syndicats, les manifestants ont protesté contre la dégringolade de la livre turque et l’inflation qui a atteint, selon les chiffres officiels, 21,31% sur un an en novembre en Turquie.
L’opposition et plusieurs observateurs mettent cependant en doute la réalité des chiffres officiels, accusant l’Office national des statistiques (Tuik) de les sous-estimer. L’inflation annuelle réelle serait de plus de 58%, selon une étude d’ENAG (Groupe de recherche sur l’inflation), composé d’économistes indépendants.
Aggravant encore plus ce tableau, la livre turque a vu sa valeur fondre de plus de 45% face au dollar depuis le début de l’année et de près de 30% depuis fin octobre.
“Nous nous appauvrissons tous les jours, mais tout va bien, selon les messieurs qui dirigent le pays. Nous disons que nous ne pouvons plus subvenir à nos besoins, le TUIK prétend que l’inflation est seulement de 21%. (…) Ne vous moquez pas de l’intelligence de la classe ouvrière!”, a martelé Arzu Cerkezoglu, présidente de la DISK (Confédération des syndicats ouvriers révolutionnaires) lors d’un discours pendant la manifestation.
“On n’a plus les moyens de s’occuper correctement de nos foyers. (…) On ne s’en sort plus”, a lancé Sibel Cilik, employée d’une usine de pièces d’automobiles venue manifester.
Démission
Les manifestants ont notamment réclamé la hausse du salaire minimum net qui est actuellement de 2.825 livres (179 euros) à 5.200 livres (331 euros).
Faruk Karaahmet, ouvrier du textile, fait partie de ceux qui doivent jongler avec la hausse des prix tout en gagnant un salaire minimum.
“Nous sommes deux à travailler dans ma famille: l’un de nos salaires sert au loyer et le second à payer les factures. C’est vraiment dur en ce moment. S’il y avait une hausse du salaire minimum, on pourrait vivre un peu plus dignement”, a-t-il estimé.
Les manifestants ont aussi chanté des slogans demandant la démission du gouvernement.
“Le gouvernement doit partir car pour se remplir les poches, il sont en train de vider les nôtres. C’est pour cela que nous sommes dans la rue, pour dire que ça suffit”, a lancé Fatma, employée à la mairie.
