En Mauritanie, les autorités sanitaires ont annoncé le dépistage des 14 premiers cas du variant Omicron. L’annonce a été faite par le ministre de la Santé, Sidi Ould Zahaf, lors d’une conférence de presse tenue jeudi 30 décembre à Nouakchott.
« Nous avons examiné 30 échantillons de personnes infectées et nous avons la confirmation que 14 d’entre elles avaient le variant Omicron », a indiqué le ministre de la santé qui explique que les autorités de son pays ont décidé de restaurer les mesures de précaution, notamment en empêchant les rassemblements, afin d’éviter la propagation du nouveau variant.
« Il a été décidé d’empêcher l’accès aux institutions gouvernementales à tous ceux qui ne détiennent pas de carte de vaccination contre le coronavirus, dans le cadre des efforts pour affronter le variant Omicron », a-t-il ajouté.
Découvert pour la première fois en Afrique du Sud, vers la fin du mois de novembre, le variant Omicron a continué sa propagation dans plus de 70 pays, à tel point que l’Organisation mondiale de la santé l’a qualifié d’”alarmant”.
A ce jour, la Mauritanie a relevé un bilan total de 41 154 cas de coronavirus, dont 863 décès, et 39 138 cas de rémission.
