Les autorités politiques de la Somalie ont conclu un accord pour achever l’organisation des élections parlementaires, au sein de la chambre basse, au courant du mois de février. Cette information est contenue dans un communiqué publié, dimanche 9 janvier, par le gouvernement.
C’est un nouveau tournant dans la crise politique que traverse la Somalie. Les autorités politiques de ce pays de la corne de l’Afrique ont annoncé avoir conclu un accord pour achever l’organisation du scrutin électoral. « L’élection en cours de la Chambre du peuple (chambre basse) sera achevée entre le 15 janvier et le 25 février 2022 », indique un communiqué du gouvernement.
La conclusion de cet accord intervient alors que la Somalie fait face à une crise politique suite au bras de fer entre le Président Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed et le Premier ministre Mohamed Hussein Roble. Au pouvoir depuis 2017, le mandat du Président somalien est arrivé à son terme le 8 février 2021. L’annonce en avril, de la prolongation de son mandat pour deux ans avait provoqué des violences à Mogadiscio. Face à ces contestations, M. Mohamed a chargé le Premier ministre d’organiser les élections. Quelques mois plus tard, la tension a éclaté entre les deux personnalités.
Le 28 décembre, à la suite d’un différend au sujet des élections, le Président somalien a suspendu le Premier ministre, l’accusant d’être « lié à la corruption ». Une suspension rejetée par Mohamed Hussein Roble accusant à son tour le chef de l’Etat de chercher à « s’emparer du pouvoir du Premier ministre par la force, avec une mesure qui viole la Constitution et la loi du pays ». Un jour plus tard, les médias somaliens ont indiqué que des soldats fidèles au Premier ministre ont pris position aux alentours du palais présidentiel où réside Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed. Depuis, le pays traverse une crise sans précédent.
Notons qu’avec cet accord, plusieurs observateurs estiment que la Somalie s’engage sur la voie de sortie de la crise politique et la lutte contre les conflits communautaires et à l’activisme des djihadistes shebab.
