Le président ivoirien Alassane Ouattara s’est prononcé sur les sanctions financières, économiques et diplomatiques décidées par la Communauté des États de l’Afrique de l’ouest (Cédéao) contre le Mali, en marge d’une visite ce lundi 17 janvier à Libreville auprès de son homologue gabonais Ali Bongo Ondimba.
« Nous sommes très malheureux d’avoir imposé toutes ces sanctions », a-t-il déclaré, rappelant le contexte de ces mesures. « Il est inacceptable qu’un régime militaire reste en place un quinquennat (…). Nous avons tout fait pour que les autorités militaires du Mali organisent des élections dans des délais convenables, c’est à notre corps défendant que nous avons mis ces sanctions en place », a poursuivi le président ivoirien lors d’une conférence de presse à Libreville.
En rappel, les chefs d’Etat de la Cédéao, réunis le 9 janvier à Accra, avaient décidé de fermer les frontières terrestres et aériennes de leurs pays respectifs avec Bamako où une junte a pris le pouvoir au terme d’un double coup d’Etat à 9 mois d’intervalle avec une feuille de route d’une transition de plus de cinq ans. Les dirigeants ouest-africains ont également annoncé, entre autres, leur décision de suspendre toutes les transactions commerciales avec le Mali à l’exception des biens de consommation essentiels et des médicaments, et le rappel de leurs ambassadeurs en poste dans le pays.
Des conséquences en Côte d’Ivoire et au Sénégal
Et les conséquences économiques de cette situation pèsent déjà sur le Mali, mais aussi sur les autres Etats de la région, reconnaît Alassane Ouattara. « La situation des populations est difficile aussi bien au Mali que dans les grands pays voisins, tels que le Sénégal ou la Côte d’Ivoire. (…) Notre souhait est que la situation se normalise le plus tôt possible », a-t-il laissé entendre.
Pendant que le président ivoirien tient ces propos au Gabon, la Cédédao, dans un post sur les réseaux sociaux ce lundi, s’est dite « disponible pour accompagner le Mali pour le retour à l’ordre constitutionnel à travers des élections crédibles dans un délai raisonnable et réaliste ».
