L’artiste sénégalais Youssou Ndour a donné son accord de principe pour sa participation au Festival Africajarc au mois de juillet prochain, en France. Il y sera avec le Nigérian Femi Kuti.
La 23ème édition du festival Africajarc, dédié aux cultures africaines, se tiendra du 21 au 24 juillet 2022 à Cajarc, en France. En tête d’affiche, la vedette de l’afrojazz nigérian Femi Kuti, mais aussi le « roi du mbalax », le Sénégalais Youssou Ndour. « You » présentera sûrement au public français quelques extraits de son dernier album « Mbalax ». Mais avant cette date, le lead vocal du Super Étoile de Dakar devrait effectuer une tournée aux États-Unis au mois de mai prochain.
C’est l’artiste lui-même qui avait fait le partage d’une vidéo sur son Instagram à travers laquelle on voit son image passer aux « Faces of Afrobeats » Bilboard à Times Square. Il a ainsi donné un rendez-vous à ses fans à Carnegie Hall le 13 mai prochain. Un concert très attendu par les fans de la légende de la musique sénégalaise, résidant aux États-Unis.
À rappeler que le festival Africajarc a été créé depuis 1998 par Jean-Pierre Lelubre. Il dispose d’un champ d’action très élargi, car il touche beaucoup de disciplines, telles que la musique, le cinéma, l’art culinaire, l’artisanat, l’art plastique, la littérature…
En plus de Femi Kuti et Youssou Ndour, d’autres personnalités de l’art contemporain africain seront de la fête, à l’instar de Sékou Trio, Lass, Milky Malick, Lucia de Karvalho, Eliasse, Mariaa Siga, Awori et Twani, Poundo, K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade, NNeka, Amen Viana, Tina Mwena, Defmaamaadef, Flexbab & Zillerbas.
