Les quatre Casques bleus français lourdement armés, qui avaient été arrêtés lundi à l’aéroport international de Bangui, la capitale centrafricaine, ont été libérés.
Selon une annonce faite par l’Organisation des Nations Unies, ce jeudi 24 février 2022, les quatre Casques bleus français, qui avaient été arrêtés lundi dernier, ont recouvré la liberté. Les soldats de la MINUSCA interpellés à l’aéroport international de Bangui, la capitale centrafricaine, étaient en possession d’un armement important au moment de leur interpellation.
Sur Twitter, le diplomate sénégalais Mankeur Ndiaye, par ailleurs chef de la MINUSCA, a annoncé, cet après-midi, que « les quatre membres du personnel de la MINUSCA arrêtés lundi dernier à l’aéroport de Bangui viennent d’être libérés. Toute la sympathie de la Mission à leur égard. L’ONU continuera d’assurer la protection de ses biens et de son personnel en toutes circonstances ».
Leur arrestation avait déclenché un tollé en France et à l’international. Mercredi en effet, le patron de l’ONU avait, dans un communiqué, réclamé leur libération immédiate. « Ces membres de la MINUSCA bénéficient de privilèges et d’immunités qui leur sont accordés dans l’intérêt de l’Organisation des Nations Unies », avait insisté Antonio Guterres. Une libération exigée et qui a été effective ce jeudi.
