Un hélicoptère de la mission des Nations unies au Congo (MONUSCO) a été abattu en pleine mission dans le Nord-Kivu.Il n’y pas de survivants dans le crash de cet appareil de la MONUSCO. Les huit Casques bleus à bord : six Pakistanis, un Russe et un Serbe sont décédés, selon une confirmation officielle du porte-parole du secrétaire général de l’ONU, Stéphane Dujarric, à New York. La MONUSCO avait annoncé avoir perdu mardi, le contact avec l’appareil en mission d’évaluation des mouvements des populations dans la zone, selon la communication des forces armées de la RDC.
Ce crash survient dans un contexte de regain de tension entre les membres du Mouvement du 23 Mars (M23) et l’armée congolaise à l’est de la RDC. L’armée congolaise et les rebelles du M23 se rejettent la responsabilité de ce crash. Le M23 accusé de mener des attaques régulières contre l’armée congolaise depuis novembre, est issu des cendres de l’ancienne armée révolutionnaire congolaise tutsis. L’organisation qui a bénéficié par le passé du soutien du Rwanda et de l’Ouganda, accuse Kinshasa de ne pas respecter les engagements sur la « démobilisation de leurs combattants ».
