Devenu patrimoine national, le premier avion Fokker F27 de Félix Houphouët-Boigny, transformé en bibliothèque, est parti en fumée. Emporté par un incendie qui s’est déclaré dans la nuit du dimanche 9 au lundi 10 mai 2021.
Koné Dodo, directeur général du Palais de la culture était l’invité d’une radio ivoirienne le mardi 11 mai 2021. Selon ses explications, l’avion du père de la Nation, transformé en bibliothèque n’a pas de branchement électrique qui pourrait provoquer un incendie. D’où des zones d’ombre sur la nature des flammes qui ont emporté « l’avion-livres ».
« Il n’y a pas de branchement d’électricité dans l’engin, d’où est donc parti le feu ? Nous n’en savons pas grand-chose pour l’instant, nous n’allons donc pas anticiper. Une enquête a été ouverte par la police. Nous attendons les conclusions de cette enquête », a-t-il révélé.
Même s’il s’abstient de le signifier, le premier responsable du palais de la culture d’Abidjan croit que cet incident n’est pas le fait du hasard.
« Les coupables sont recherchés, il faut qu’on retrouve les coupables », a-t-il martelé.
Le Fokker F27 du premier président ivoirien a été transformé en bibliothèque au début des années 2000 par Sidiki Bakaba, l’ex-directeur général du palais de la culture. Parqué dans le jardin arrière du cet espace culturel sis à Abidjan Treichville, cet avion accueillait de nombreuses personnes dont des enfants.
