Le chef de l’État Félix Tshisekedi, n’est pas convaincu du vaccin AstraZeneca. « Il y a d’autres vaccins beaucoup plus efficaces qui vont arriver au courant de ce mois. Et là, je vais me présenter pour me faire vacciner » a dit le président de la République.
Félix Tshisekedi a expliqué ce jeudi 1er juillet les raisons pour lesquelles il ne s’est jamais fait vacciner contre Covid-19 avec AstraZeneca. En tant que Chef de l’Etat, la population aimerait bien le voir recevoir sa dose de vaccin à titre symbolique afin de la pousser à faire autant.
Le président de la République a fait savoir à la presse qu’il n’avait jamais été convaincu lui-même de ce vaccin et ce, à la suite de son « inefficacité », qui a été démontrée en Europe à quelques jours du début de vaccination en RDC. Ce qui a même poussé le pays à reporter ce lancement. « Nous étions prêts à lancer la campagne de vaccination. La veille, j’ai vu cette information (inefficacité d’AstraZeneca,) à la télévision d’abord puis dans les réseaux sociaux. J’ai transféré cette information au ministre pour lui dire attention, demain nous lançons la campagne de vaccination mais regardez ce qui se passe en Europe.
Tous ces pays scandinaves de l’Europe de l’Ouest avaient pris la décision de suspendre AstraZeneca. Ils estimaient que ce n’était pas efficace. A fortiori, nous qui avions bénéficié de ce produit, on ne pouvait qu’aller dans le même sens », a-t-il expliqué à la presse à Goma. Et d’ajouter : « A partir du moment où ces pays ont pris les mesures de précaution vis-à-vis d’AstraZeneca, eux qui en connaissent les propriétés et qui l’ont fabriqué, nous aussi à fortiori, nous étions dans l’obligation de suspendre cela. Nous l’avions suspendu pendant 1 mois jusqu’au moment où ailleurs on a levé cette mesure mais il y a eu des pays qui ont carrément interdit ce vaccin ».
Le chef de l’État a promis de se faire vacciner dans les jours à venir avec les nouveaux produits attendus et qui, selon lui, ont démontré toute leur efficacité. Pour rappel, plus de 51 424 personnes ont été vaccinées à ce jour, à l’AstraZeneca dans 9 provinces depuis le début de la vaccination, le 19 avril 2021.
