Malgré le contexte difficile dû à la pandémie du Covid-19, les résultats net du secteur bancaire de l’Union économique et monétaire Ouest africaine (UEMOA), se sont accrus de 19,8% comparativement à 2019, selon les données du rapport annuel de la Commission bancaire de l’UEMOA.
Cette hausse s’établit à 551,8 milliards de francs CFA contre 460,6 milliards de francs CFA en 2019. D’après la Commission bancaire de l’Union, le Burkina Faso (92,5 milliards ) a été détrôné par la Côte d’Ivoire qui a dégagé un bénéfice de 242,5 milliards de francs CFA.
Le Sénégal vient avec 85,4 milliards, le Mali 61,9 milliards. Les institutions béninoises, selon le rapport, ont enregistré un bénéfice de 24,5 milliards de francs CFA, juste devant le Niger, 23,9 milliards de francs CFA.
Il faut noter qu’en 2020, le système bancaire des 8 pays ayant le franc CFA en commun à été animé par 149 établissements de crédit en activité.
